About Me

Nick Boeder

My name is Nick Boeder

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with twenty years of experience working with children, teens, families and older adults.  As a result of the amazing experiences I have had over the years working with incredible people, I have been blessed and shaped as a person.

I named my practice Blue Collar Counseling because it describes my approach to therapy.  I value the importance of straightforward, honest counseling that relies on the integrity of the relationship I have with my clients.  I support my clients by helping them simplify, order and make sense of the struggles they are facing.

By organizing and changing our relationship to the given problem in our lives we can significantly influence the presenting challenge and make positive changes.

My hope is to demystify the process of participating in therapy and offer timely, effective counsel to each person in my care.

My Career

I have had the opportunity to work with a wide-ranging client population, in a variety of mental health settings throughout the country.  I enjoy working with clients across the life-span and am comfortable supporting people with complex intellectual and developmental needs and a range of mood challenges.

Working with young people and their families has been a central focus during my career.  I have been employed in residential treatment centers, outpatient clinics, wilderness and experiential programs and schools.

I have ice-climbed in Michigan, taught art and music, led work crews and hiked through miles of backcountry with my clients.  I have led numerous clinical groups, facilitated family reunification and spent hours in reflective conversation with amazing young people and their families.

Utilizing all of the skills and experience I have gained I seek to educate, comfort, listen and guide my clients towards greater self-awareness and healing.

Young Professionals and Couples

In addition to my work with young people and their families, I love working with young professionals and couples. Though my approach to therapy shifts and adapts to the specific individual and relational dynamics, the through-line is my commitment to authenticity and empathic presence.

I believe in the resilience and problem-solving capacity of every client I work with and seek to reflect, amplify and bring forward these unique strengths and abilities when helping them address the challenges that led to therapy.

Whether working with a couple or a young professional my goal as a therapist is to guide my clients to a place in their lives where therapy is no longer necessary.
